You might have heard about the waterlilly that was stolen recently from Kew Gardens.

The Rwandan Waterlilly (Nymphaea thermarum) has been rescued from extinction by botanists at Kew Gardens.

During the filming of Kingdom of Plants two years ago, I spent a week filming this incredibly rare waterlilly. Almost extinct, this waterlilly was cultivated by Carlos Magdalena at Kew. After months Carlos finally found the very specific habitat the plant needed to thrive.

Here is an interview with Carlos and Sir David Attenborough to tell you more.

The story is going to be featured this evening on BBC’s Crimewatch programme.
