Macro Motion Control Gantry
4 axis XY, Pan and Tilt macro gantry (Patent Pending) for precise, repeatable and portable macro motion control cinematography on set or location
Introducing the most portable, precise and repeatable macro motion control system designed for natural history and commercial macro cinematography both on the location and in the studio
The Macro Gantry is a 4 axis (XY, Pan & Tilt) system designed from the ground-up to be both precise and portable, and is Patent Pending in the UK for its innovative design.
Built to fly modern cinema cameras such as RED, Arri, Venice and other large format cinema cameras including the Veo 4k, the system is designed to work with macro lenses and is routinely used with focal lengths such as 200m macro lenses, 10x microscope objectives and probe lenses.
Robert designed and developed the system going through many iterations over the last few years to create this bespoke motion control gantry to facilitate macro cinematography principally of wildlife subjects.
The camera can be flown with a PS4 controller live, or recorded and played back for repeat VFx moves. Time lapse moves are also possible. The portable controller is designed by eMotimo and in the studio it can run from Dragonframe and the DMC16 and DMC32.
It mounts on a 100mm bowl, or 3/8" tie down and works in any orientation. Tilt is +/- 45 degrees and Pan is 360 degrees. X rail is 18" and Y is 12". The whole system packs into one Peli case and weights 25Kg.
You will have seen the work of the Macro Gantry in many films including:
All Quiet on the Western Front (Netflix)
Green Planet (BBC)
Frozen Planet II (BBC)
A Real Bugs Life (Disney+)
Super/ Natural (Nat Geo)
Welcome to Earth (Nat Geo)
Pole to Pole (Nat Geo)
Postcards from Earth (Sphere Vegas)
Encounter (Amazon)
The system is now available to hire.
